Objectives and short summary of activities

The main objectives of IST-Africa (2005 - 2006) are:
- To promote dissemination and exploitation of European IST research results in Southern Africa;
- To adapt relevant European research results to regional requirements and develop modular eGovernment, eHealth, eLearning, ICT for Agriculture and ICT Sensitization training materials;
- To develop European and national case studies for Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Botswana, that will facilitate customization of training workshops for different target countries;
- To deliver 10 training modules and related case studies as a series of 2 and 3 day workshops (20 - 40 participants) held in Mozambique (10), South Africa (10), Tanzania (10) and Botswana (4);
- To deliver 2 international conferences in Africa (100 - 200 delegates) to facilitate EU-ACP networking, and highlight IST exploitation and international cooperation research opportunities;
- To publish 2 annual comparative research reports including case studies on ICT adoption and eGovernment, eHealth and eLearning activities in Mozambique, South Africa and Tanzania;
- To reinforce wider regional exploitation and impact of IST-Africa training materials by engaging with key regional stakeholders and potential partner programmes in Africa;
- To publish IST-Africa training materials, related European and national case studies, workshop reports, conference papers and presentations on the IST-Africa portal
