EVENT: EPIKH workshop

The strategic aims of the EPIKH project are to:

• Reinforce the impact of e-Infrastructures in scientific research defining and delivering stimulating programme of educational events, including Grid Schools and High Performance Computing courses;
• Broaden the engagement in e-Science activities and collaborations both geographically and across disciplines.

The most recent EPIKH event held in South Africa - the Joint UJ/Wits School for Grid Application Porting is about to come to a close on Friday 26 March. We will be organising a workshop to close off proceedings, with two sessions :

• Morning Session : Publicise and give feedback on the Task Force for Sub-Saharan e-Infrastructure Deployment
• Afternoon Session : Report back on the results of the application porting and status of SAGrid

You are warmly invited to participate to this workshop, to come and see the progress of these projects and participate in the discussions and development of African. We will be having presentations in the
morning session from several FP-7 funded projects with a presence in Africa, which are collaborating to advance the state of e-Infrastructure and related research activities in the region, as well as  representatives of the French and Italian embassies in South Africa and the South African Department of Science and Technology. An update of networking infrastructure in the region will also be presented. The afternoon session will see presentations by participants of the school, with descriptions of their  applications and possible future extension, giving some examples of the usage of the SAGrid Infrastructure and its potential.
