GÉANT and partners helping to advance research and treatment for neuGRID and Sim-e-Child projects

GÉANT provides vital infrastructure for numerous projects, spanning a wide range of research disciplines. The medical community in particular has the potential to bring tangible societal benefit for the world's population, and it is well understood that their research into life-changing treatments and disease prevention is underpinned by research networking. Two ongoing projects illustrate this extremely well, and case studies for each have recently been completed - giving an insight into the work that GÉANT and the national networks are supporting every day.

neuGRID: work on Alzheimer’s disease research by building a new user-friendly grid-based research e-Infrastructure (neuGRID), where the collection/archiving of large amounts of imaging data is paired with computationally intensive data analyses. Read the case study

Sim e-Child: a project to develop a grid-enabled platform for simulations in paediatric cardiology working towards the personalized virtual child heart. Read the case study
