About Erina4Africa Study

The aim of ERINA4Africa is to foster knowledge-sharing between e-Infrastructures stakeholders in Africa and the EU in the key ICT areas of e-Health, e-Government, and e-Learning with the overall outcome of accelerating the contribution of e-Infrastructures to societal and economical development in Africa.

In order to meet this aim the project will firstly research the demand and the supply of e-Infrastructures in Africa, to provide an ‘e-Infrastructures ecosystem mapping’. This research, in the first half, will create a map and a series of data that can be analysed. The map will portray the current ecosystem of e-Infrastructures activities and trends on a single access point that will help to share knowledge between the actors on Africa and the EU.  Data from the research can be qualitatively and quantitatively analysed to demonstrate what are the most value added applications for society in Africa: the innovative activities beyond just e-Science that the EU should fund in the future.

In this analysis the project will focus on the three target areas of e-Government, e-Health and e-Learning with respect to identifying opportunities where Africa may benefit from developing Research Infrastructure policies based on EU experiences and best practices. The EU will have the chance to demonstrate on-the-field benefits of exploiting Research Infrastructure.
